• A description of your internship site.
What type of work is done at your internship site? What is your organization’s mission? What is you organization’s role in the community? My internship is with Durango fire and rescue. The fire department responds to everything from fires to car wreaks and medical emergencies. They play a huge part in the community by providing support and aid to citizens.
• A description of your mentor.
Who is your mentor? What is his or her role at your internship site? What can this person offer you? How can you help him or her? I do not currently have a mentor the department is still deciding whom we will shadow.
• Explanation of how you came to intern at this site with this mentor.
What are your academic or career goals? How will this experience help you achieve your academic or career goals? For a career I wish to become a police officer/SWAT so I would like to obtain my EMT license and I feel this will be a good way to gain some medical knowledge to do so.
• Provide an abstract of your proposed project.
In one paragraph describe what your project is, its purpose, and how you will complete it.
My project is to shadow and document the everyday life of a Firefighter/Paramedic. I want to show the community exactly how much these people do for the community and learn myself what its like to be in there shoes. I want to do possibly interviews with the firefighters and a slide show with information, pictures and quotes from the firefighters
• Explain your LINK project, its purpose, and how it contributes to your internship site.
What are you doing? Why? L.I.N.K is to get people involved in the community outside of animas and get real world job experience.
• Explain the research you have done in preparation for this project.
What skills or knowledge have you had to develop in order to start this project? How do you knowthat this project is relevant and contributes to your internship site?

• Outline, in detail, the steps you will take to complete this project.
Specific times, dates, locations, and materials.Im not sure yet as to these details. I will need a camera I can provide access to my mentor and colleagues for interviews and to read up on media posting laws so I don’t violate any in the slide show.
• Create a timeline and catalogue needed resources including supplies, people, and space.
You should already have all of the resources you need to complete this project, including having scheduled time with anyone whose help you will need.
• Troubleshooting. Describe what you will do when something does not go according to plan. Take it as it happens. Talk to Rachael and my mentor to work it out,
Remember that these moments are valuable learning opportunities.
What did you learn from challenges encountered and how did you remedy problems?
I havnt had any yet.
